Mrs. Mena

Hi Camarena families! My name is Mrs. Mena and I’m so fortunate to be part of our amazing school within a community full of fabulous families. I’ve grown up in southern California my entire life and moved to San Diego when I went to the wonderful SDSU for my undergrad, teaching credential, and Masters degree (Go Aztecs!). I am married to my supportive and tech-savvy husband, Vernon. We have a 9 1/2-year-old son named Camden, 8-year-old son named Anderson, a 5 1/2 year old daughter named Anella, and 11-year-old lab named Troy. Being a parent has changed the way I look at life and I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to be a mom as well as a teacher to so many incredible students. Outside the classroom, I love being outdoors, trying new adventures, and spending time with my family.

I have been teaching for 18 years and taught K-5th grade over the time (with many combos in between).  I love teaching 5th grade here at Camarena especially with my amazing team. For the past 6 years my Cam311 family has also be working closely with our Dual Immersion community of learners.  Mrs. Flores and I team teach across all subjects. Together we will be ensuring all of our students get the best learning experience while keeping everyone informed along the way. Our youngest daughters are also good friends and dance together at Neisha’s. We are so excited for our eleventh year as Robo Griffins and are motivated to push the learning curve and develop questioners and thinkers among our classes.  I look forward to getting to know all of you and your families. Go Robo!
